Welcome to Mote Park Art Group

Our group was formed in 2010 by artist Levina Reeves who ran an Open Studio in Athleague, County Roscommon. Meeting weekly in the beautiful surroundings of the Athleague Angling and Conference Centre, artists worked on individual projects in various media with advice and support from Levina. In August 2012 the group held a successful exhibition of work in the Angling Centre, which was very well received. When Levina moved abroad in 2013 the group continued to meet, create and support each other on a weekly basis.

Meetings subsequently moved to a very beautiful location in Mote Park, County Roscommon. Although membership has changed somewhat with the passage of time, the atmosphere has always been welcoming, friendly, helpful and supportive. Members work in a variety of media including oils, acrylic, pastel, watercolours, fabric, mixed media, collage and pencil. Our beautiful surroundings are conducive to creativity with an abundance of woodlands, wildlife, flora and incredible beauty right on our doorstep. Our annual visit to the local bluebell woods never ceases to amaze and inspire.

We constantly challenge ourselves by setting goals, trying new techniques and organising workshops with visiting experts. Some of our events to date include :
Mixing paints
Painting skies
Painting in the style of the Impressionists
Glazes and paint effects
Visits to exhibitions
